Project Intro
In case you missed class on the day I did the introduction to one point perspective please check out the prezi and copy the vocabulary terms. --> PREZI <---
1) Draw Boxes
Practice drawing boxes in one-point perspective. Gaining a good understanding how to draw boxes will make drawing more complex items easier in the future. Draw at least 6 boxes on your paper that all comment to ONE vanishing point. Check out this video if you need a refresher.
2) Bird's Eye View City
Now that you have mastered the basic box it's time to start making these boxes look like something in the real world. Your challenge is to draw a city from an aerial perspective The key is to start by drawing the roofs of the buildings. Then start connecting the roofs closets to the vanishing point first working your way towards the outside edges. Don't be like the guy in the video though... Use a ruler please!
3) Main Street View
Let's approach our city from another angle. This time put your feet firmly on the ground and attempt to draw a version of "main-street" using your imagination and what you have learn thus far.
4) Interior Perspective
Interiors can be tricky. Sometimes it is difficult to fit things into an enclosed space and keep furniture from floating or crashing into walls. Experiment with the size of the back wall that you draw and where to put the horizon line (eye level).
5) Final Project
For the final piece of this lesson select one of the previous practice activities to turn into a fully realized artwork. Spend ONE day to draw a rough draft and then approximately THREE days doing the final shaded drawing in perspective.
I encourage you to find a drawing to use as a reference (not to copy exactly). Do some google searching and see what turns up when you search the following terms. Consider printing up a image to work from for your final.
