Line quality is something that most begining artsits don't consider, but it can really take your work to the next level. Search the internet and fine a piece of art that you believe uses expressive line quality. Look for artwork that has a variety of lines (thick and thin // straight and curvy etc etc). Post the image or link and give a brief explination as to why you selected this piece. Be sure to sign your name to the post.
Over the next few weeks it is your job to be exploring the ins and outs of the AP portfolio. Check out some of the links and start to get a feel for where you could head with your portfolio. The earlier that you can decide if you are a Drawing or a 2D artist the better. So look at some portfolios and see how you fit in.

Do some google image searching: "contour figure drawing" "figure abstract" "figure drawing ink" "gesture figure pastel" etc. etc. The map project was definitely challenging for many of my AP Studio students. Selecting a subject matter that related back to the map was not mandatory, but a bonus to the final result. There were a lot of mixed emotions and results when it came to this project.
